Episode 67: Demand What You Need
Demand What You Need
Well, I have to be honest, that’s not a title for a podcast episode that I ever thought I’d write … but here I am.
If you’re a woman and you have a pulse, chances are you’re starting to feel it now.
The burn out.
The exhaustion, the disappointment, the expectation hangover, as well as wariness to venture back out into the world.
But it’s going to happen now, and we know that. And in order to stay grounded and make sure you feel happier as the days go by, you, me, we, need to demand what we need.
Now, of course, I don’t mean run around yelling at everyone that you need a foot rub or a glass of wine or recognition for everything you’ve ever done for your friends and family.
“I have a running list of every nose wiped, every meal cooked, every vacation planned!”
Um, no, not quite that, LOL
Instead, I’d like you to return to the basics because I’ll bet those aren’t being met right now.
If you’ve been around me for a while, you know what those basics are:
1: Do you feel seen?
2: Do you feel heard?
3: Do you feel valued?
And for this time in the history of humanity, I’m going to add:
Do you feel connected?
After all of these months being physically distant from others while carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders (I mean, come on, we really have been carrying it!), we may need new forms of connection from new people.
So obviously, in order to demand what you need, you have to know what you need. I talk about how to do that in this episode.
Then, (and this is critical), you need to learn how to ask for what you need in such a way that other people can actually hear you and then act on it.
Oh, and in full confession, this episode was partly inspired by my cat, Mikey, who persisted throughout the entire recording of this episode that I pet him.
He would’ve stayed on my lap, but he preferred to rub up against the mic to let you know that he needed my attention, too.
So, don’t be afraid to demand what you need. But first, let’s get you in touch with what that actually is. Game on, indeed.

Loved it! Thanks for the reminder to check in on what we need. Something I know I haven’t done in years. Always trying to “look” good on the outside while crumbling inside. You really know how to support a girl! xoxo
Absolutely! It’s truly a phenomenon for women. Let’s make it our year to take it back! 😉 xo
