    Stop looking for your purpose

You can stop looking for your purpose now. You probably feel like you’ve been looking for it forever.

Pop in your earphones and let me tell you a little story.

Let’s pretend for a moment that you’ve just met Oprah…but she’s suffering from a massive case of amnesia, and she has no idea who she is.

She’s taken a job she hates at the local Olive Garden as an assistant manager.

She’s miserable. She hates going to work and she’s started to come home after her shifts to binge-watch Netflix, eat ice cream and fall asleep in a stupor before she lugs herself upstairs to bed to go through it all again the next day.

You keep trying to explain to her who she is. She has a huge purpose, but she can’t seem to see it.

“You’re freaking Oprah woman! Get up! C’mon! You’re worth millions. You influence social conversation, you’ve even been asked to run for president!”

She just waves you away and says, “No no… you don’t understand. I have bills to pay. I can’t just run off and start making a TV show, are you crazy? Besides, in 3 months they’re going to promote me to manager. I need that raise. Maybe after that I’ll think about maybe doing something I like on the side. Maybe.”

You stare at her in disbelief.

How can she not see it? Doesn’t she know about the fulfillment? The purpose? The joy? The success?

Think about that for a second.

Think about the wasted talent, the wasted inspiration, the missed opportunity and all that the world would’ve missed out on.

That, my beautiful girlfriend, is how I see you.

Have you ever used any of those same excuses? “But wait! I’m about to get a $5,000 raise!” or “I can’t do that! That’s for other people!”

I think part of the issue here is that we’ve been sold this idea that you have to find your purpose before you can start taking action. I’m not sure where this started, but it’s total BS.

“Your PURPOSE”? I mean, what the…. What the hell does that even mean?!

That seems SO freaking huge! It’s daunting. And honestly, it makes people who feel like they haven’t found theirs yet feel like crap. It’s awful.

In this episode, I’ll walk you through 3 steps you can take to start living ON purpose, so you can enjoy the process of growing (and living!) and allow your purpose to find you.

As promised, here’s a link to Kyle Cease’s book, The Illusion of Money.

Kyle’s book inspired this episode. The story about Oprah above is used in his book, but he uses Michael Jordan as the main character.

It’s fantastic and I highly recommend you check it out.

Now pop in those earphones and listen in. 😉
