Episode 70: Lost Your Motivation? This Beautiful Supermom Shares The Best Motivation Secrets

Game On Girlfriend Episode 70 title Graphic

If you’ve been feeling like that to-do list is just way too long (oh, and by the way, you don’t even care), then this is the podcast episode you’ve been waiting for.

In this episode, I got to interview Lori Oberbroeckling, who’s just released her new book, Secrets of Supermom: How Extraordinary Moms Succeed at Work and Home & How You Can Too!

Lori kicks off this interview by telling us exactly how to tackle that shared lack of motivation we’ve all been feeling. The burnout, the overwhelm, and, let’s be honest, the apathy about so many of the “things” we’re supposed to do and care about.

We also talk about identifying your motivation style (so cool!), so you know what levers to pull when you lack motivation. For instance, do you get motivated by rewards? Those accolades that you’re sure are coming when you’re done with your projects or tasks?

Or do you care more about what you’ll learn how how you’ll impact others? It’s such a fun conversation!

I mean, how often do we get to really sit down and notice what motivates us? She talks about all of this in the interview, and she covers the motivational styles in her book, too.

Now there’s one more thing I’d like fo you to keep in mind as you listen in …

If you’ve wanted to write a book but you feel like you don’t have time, or you’re too busy, you’re going to love listening to Lori’s story.

So hang on to your hats and glasses here, but Lori wrote this book in 35 days. Yep. It’s a true story.

If you’ve ever thought, “Oh, writing books is for other people,” I hope that after listening to Lori’s story and strategies, you’ll really get that you can do this, too, because you can. (Oh hey! That’s just like her book title!)

Oh, and if you just decided that she must not really have kids, or she has a nanny and a housekeeper and a professional chef or something, think again.

Lori did this during September of 2020 (collective gasp). She has four kids, 3 of whom she was homeschooling while she wrote. She has a full-time job as an executive and a few side hustles.

Incredible, right? I don’t know about you, but the second I heard that I felt really inspired to get up and make sure my dreams are nurtured.

The 3 key concepts of her book are:

  1. identifying your motivation style
  2. the habit of motivation
  3. how being happy on purpose can help you get motivated and stay motivated.

So, if you’re feeling burned out and overwhelmed (I hear it from so many moms! It’s OK! There’s nothing wrong with you, I promise.) Then I highly recommend you head on over to Lori’s site and grab the Motivation Worksheet she’s created for us.

You can grab that and identify your motivation style by clicking here.
