How I Film My Videos – Sarah Uncut Episode 2
I hate hardware. LOL I’m not even gonna lie to you. It took me about two years to get this all set up, and right now I feel like my audio could be better, but the thought of fixing it makes me want to crawl under my desk with a bottle of Baileys.
Getting started recording your YouTube videos or your podcast or even your webinars and online courses can feel so daunting. I wish I’d ripped the Band-aid off and started sooner.
That being said, I’d love to support you in getting started sooner, so hopefully this episode and the description of my set up will help you rip off said Band-aid. After all, the game is on, right?
Get started.
There are a few things I forgot to mention in the video, I think it was my husband’s crustacean adventures that threw me off … or the fly. We may never know.
But this is Sarah Uncut, so I’m not going to redo it. LOL Take me as I am, loves, take me as I am.
- When I film, I close the curtains in my office — I don’t love what this does to the lighting (always more to work on, right?) but it does wonders for the sound.
- My office is mostly wood and windows, and even though I’ve added a rug and more furniture, the sound can still feel “echo-y” to me. So, curtains it is.
- I use a tripod for my camera that’s pretty heavy duty — it’s much more than you’d need to “just” hold up a camera. I have this stronger tripod because I use a teleprompter when I’m shooting my courses. And that sucker is heavy.
- I run my microphone from the camera, then under my desk, and under my shirt. It’s not wireless, but that’s definitely next on my list.
- When I speak for corporations in my office, I make sure the camera angle is above my waist so the microphone cable isn’t visible.
As promised, below are the links to every single product I use to film.
If you click on any of these links, I’ll get a few cents, and I want to make sure you know that. Nothing for me to retire on or anything, but I think it’s a nice little thank-you for these little love notes I create for you.

Because fun-fact:
Because fun-fact: People are 65% more likely to purchase from you if they “see” you. I they feel that they know who you are and they are familiar with your face, they’ll be more likely to trust you.
So, get recording! Everything you need is above.
