Episode 286: Mastering Magnetic Communication Through Masculine/Feminine Balance with Nicola Navon
The Hidden Connection Between Your Love Life and Your Business Success: How Relationship Patterns Affect Entrepreneurial Growth
Your business relationships are a mirror of your personal ones. The communication patterns, boundary-setting abilities, and emotional dynamics showing up in your romantic life are likely the same ones affecting your client relationships, team management, and leadership presence.
This connection became crystal clear during my conversation with NicolaBone, a relationship communication coach and host of the Divine Union podcast. Her journey from people-pleasing in romantic partnerships to creating magnetic business communication reveals how mastering authentic relationship skills can transform your entrepreneurial success.
When People-Pleasing Patterns Sabotage Business Growth
Many women entrepreneurs struggle with the same communication challenges that show up in their personal relationships. Nicola's story illustrates a common pattern: always being the one who sacrificed her needs to maintain harmony, avoiding difficult conversations, and fearing conflict or abandonment.
"I was a people pleaser. I sacrificed a lot of my needs at the expense of the relationship. I was too afraid to express disappointment, express my boundaries for fear of abandonment," Nicola shared during our interview.
These people-pleasing tendencies directly impact business success through:
- Undercharging for services to avoid client pushback
- Over-delivering without compensation to maintain relationships
- Avoiding necessary boundary conversations with difficult clients
- Making business decisions based on others' expectations rather than strategic goals
- Struggling with sales conversations due to fear of rejection
The solution lies in understanding and balancing what Nicola calls masculine and feminine energies in business communication.
The Foundation: Masculine Energy as Your Root System
Think of masculine energy like the roots of a tree. It's your groundedness in who you are, what you stand for, and the conviction behind your words. In business, this shows up as:
- Clear boundaries with clients
- The ability to make requests without desperation
- Standing firm in your values and pricing
- Taking action from a place of choice, not need
"I couldn't until I worked on healing my masculine and bringing it in. I wasn't able to put myself out there in relationships and business as vulnerable," Nicola explained.
This is why so many entrepreneurs struggle with sales conversations, setting boundaries, or raising prices. Without that internal grounding, every client interaction feels like a threat to your survival.
“You want to have that authenticity and that relatability going out so that your people will come to you,” says Christine. “The less perfect you are, the more people are going to be attracted to you.”
It also takes the pressure off because rather than performing, you can feel like you’re showing up.
The Expression: Feminine Energy as Your Branches
Once you have that solid foundation, feminine energy becomes your branches and leaves—playful, intuitive, able to sway with the wind without breaking. In business, this looks like:
- Reading your audience and adapting your approach
- Bringing curiosity and play to problem-solving
- Allowing space for outcomes to unfold naturally
- Communicating with warmth and receptivity
The magic happens when both energies work together. Your masculine energy gives you the courage to be vulnerable; your feminine energy makes that vulnerability magnetic rather than desperate.
This balance between masculine and feminine energy directly impacts how you approach business growth and goal achievement.
Unhealthy manifesting comes from the distorted masculine—the need to control every outcome, manipulate responses, and force results. It feels heavy and creates resistance.
Healthy manifesting combines masculine action with feminine allowance. You create systems, take consistent action, and make clear requests, then you allow space for outcomes to unfold naturally.
"I'm going to put this out here. I'm going to take actionable steps in my masculine. I'm going to create systems, time block my day, got my marketing funnels, my sales process. But then it's up to you, God, source, higher power, universal energy, as to how it unfolds," Nicola explained.
The Practice: Coming Home to Wholeness
The foundation of all healthy relationships—business and personal—is your relationship with yourself. When you're constantly looking outside yourself for validation, worth, or completion, you create codependent dynamics that limit everyone involved.
Nicola suggests a simple but powerful practice: When you feel that familiar urge to reach for something external (food, social media, validation), pause and ask yourself, "What do I actually need right now?"
Maybe it's presence, connection, movement, or simply acknowledgment of what you're feeling. By learning to meet your own needs first, you show up to relationships from choice rather than desperation.
The Ripple Effect
When you master this balance within yourself, everything shifts. Your sales conversations become invitations rather than desperate pitches. Your client relationships become partnerships between two whole people rather than codependent arrangements. Your leadership becomes magnetic because you're not trying to control outcomes—you're creating space for others to step into their own power.
As Nicola beautifully put it: "Two people choosing to relate with each other. Not out of codependency, not out of need, but out of true depth. And that's where intimacy is built. Whether it's with our clients, whether it's with our partners, in all of our relationships."
Your Next Step
The next time you're frustrated with a client interaction, a team dynamic, or a business outcome, pause and ask yourself: How am I showing up in my personal relationships? The patterns are likely connected.
Start with the foundation—that internal grounding that allows you to communicate your desires clearly without attachment to the outcome. Practice meeting your own needs so you can show up to business relationships from wholeness rather than lack.
The quality of your internal relationship determines the quality of all your external relationships. When you get this right, everything else becomes easier.
