There's no such thing as work-life balance.

That’s right. You heard it here first.

The clock doesn’t stop ticking on your life when you sit down to work on emails.

It is outrageous that as women, we’re supposed to pretend that parts of our life don’t matter. (And yes, this idea is rooted in social constructs.)

We have been trained to believe that our work should not be compensated, that our work is there only to make sure everyone else is OK, and that our needs don’t matter.

So, when you ask. “How do I achieve work-life balance?” you need to recognize that you are off balance.

It’s not your fault. You’re not in balance because you have been taught to embrace this high-functioning codependence in which serving other people’s needs is all that matters.
