Episode 300: 300 Episodes and Counting: Why Your Dreams in Progress Matter More Than Perfect Timing

Sarah Walton celebrating 300 episodes of dreams in progress on Game On Girlfriend podcast

Holy Crap, We Did 300 Episodes (And What That Means for Your Dreams)

Okay, can we take a moment here? 300 episodes. I'm literally trying to play it cool, but I'm jumping out of my skin right now.

You guys, I started this thing in my basement with terrible acoustics, recording on my phone. There were episodes where I looked straight-up purple because I couldn't figure out the camera settings. Did I care? Well, I cared a little because I'm human, and it's cringey to look back at. But you know what? The message from my heart to yours was still there.

And that's the thing about dreams in progress - they don't wait for perfect conditions to start mattering.

Here's What I Learned About You (Yes, You)

Those moments when I thought, "Eh, if I skip this week, no one will notice"? There were SO many times I was like, "I don't really have to be consistent, do I?"

But then you guys showed up. Episode after episode. With your full hearts and full mugs of coffee and the most incredible insights. You made this milestone happen, not me sitting in my basement talking to myself.

"I consider myself an eagle. People who love to fly alone. Most of humanity is more like pigeons - there's always a group, always a huddle. But here's the thing: reaching a milestone of 300 is not something I could do alone. And it blows my mind every time."

Why Consistency Beats Perfectionism Every Freaking Time

Listen, girlfriend. Here's what 300 episodes taught me about the difference between people who make their dreams happen and people who don't.

The person who turns on their phone and starts talking will always get better faster than the person still researching lighting techniques six months later.

I mean, come on. Who do you think gets closer to their dreams? The person researching cameras for six months, studying different lighting, thinking about it, outlining stuff, then deciding "no, actually I'm going to do this other thing" and studying some more? Or the person who just starts talking and posting?

Six months down the line, who's going to be further along?

It's obvious, right? But we still do the research thing because we're scared.

The Baby Truth That Changes Everything

You know what blows my mind? 100% of able-bodied babies learn how to walk. Do they fall down a lot? Yeah. You know the difference between a baby and us?

They don't have language yet. So they can't say things like, "Oh my god, I suck. I'm so stupid. Susie learned how to walk two months ago. I'm never going to get this. I'm a loser. I should just quit."

That's why babies learn to walk - because they don't have that internal dialogue yet. Isn't that wild?

"100% of humans who have a desire have the ability to achieve the desire. They just have language in their head that tells them otherwise. But it's just language. It's just thoughts."

What to Do When You Want to Stop (Because Honey, You Will)

Okay, real talk time. There are going to be moments when you're like, "This is stupid. I want to stop." Maybe your timeline's coming up and you're stalling. Maybe your family needed you more than you thought this week, so you're knocked off schedule, and you're just going to give up.

Here's what most coaches won't tell you: Stop for a few minutes. Just stop.

When that panic hits, when you're like "I just don't want to," give yourself permission to pause. But here's the key - stop and remember your why.

For me, when I didn't want to go downstairs and record, I'd remember: this isn't about me. There are people who will never be able to hire me - different time zones, don't believe in paying coaches, whatever. That doesn't mean they don't deserve coaching from me through the podcast.

Borrow My Confidence (Seriously, Take It)

Confidence is borrowable. Did you know that?

You're like, "Walton, you don't even know who I am." How can I say I believe in you? Because 100% of able-bodied babies learn to walk. And 100% of people who have a desire have the ability to achieve it.

You wouldn't have been given the desire if you didn't have the internal power to achieve it. That's just true.

Are there things you're going to have to learn? Probably. Yeah, I had to learn how to not make my camera purple. I figured it out. I think I look better now than I did then. But you know what? The message was still there, right?

"Did you learn how to talk? Did you learn math? Did you learn freaking decimals? I mean, what's with decimals anyway? But you learned them, didn't you? Of course you did because you are capable of doing so."

Rest Is Part of the Work (Put Down Your Phone)

Oh my god, remember when we used to brag about how little we slept? "I only sleep for three hours. I'm so cool. I use all my time to be productive." Meanwhile, we're walking into walls, living off caffeine, and having heart palpitations most of the day. But it's fine because we're productive.

No. No, no, no. We are way beyond that now.

Real rest means putting your stupid weapon of mass distraction down for a hot second, would you? Just breathe. Be a person. Remember, you are part of nature.

Go look at the leaves. Look at the grass. The flowers. The sky. You are an organic being on this planet. There is not an organic being on this planet that does not need rest. Every organic being has a rest cycle. You do too.

Why Your Higher Self Needs You to Chill

The access to the best parts of you - the wisest, smartest, most inspiring parts of your soul - come through nature. They come through your breath. Your breath is access to peace.

When you feel replenished, you come back and continue to work on your dreams in progress.

Say Your Fears Out Loud (This Is Important)

Here's something we need to talk about. Secrecy breeds shame. And shame is dangerous because it turns into rage when we keep it all inside.

You know what happens all the time in The Abundance Academy? Someone's like, "I'm so embarrassed. I hate myself. I stopped for a second." Then I ask, "How many of you have ever felt this?" Every single hand goes up. Every. Single. Time.

But the secrecy allows it to fester. This idea that there's something wrong with you, that it's easy for Sarah to have dreams in progress, but you cannot.

Name your fears out loud. Even if it's just your best friend. "There's something I really want to share with you, but I'm scared it's going to come out wrong." What did you do? You made sure that no matter how you say it, it's not going to come out wrong.

"We thrive in community. We thrive in truthtelling. We thrive when we give it a name. When we say the fears out loud, they lose their power over us."

Your Dream Is Calling You Right Now (Yeah, That One)

The fact that you're reading this right now? Your dreams in progress are calling to you. That's why you're here. You know what your dream is - it's the one that just made you nervous when I mentioned it.

You're like, "No, it's not." That's definitely the one. When you get nervous, scared, or freaked out, that's definitely the dream that's currently in progress, and you're just hiding from it.

How many of my episodes have you missed? But you didn't miss this one. That's because it is your time to pursue that dream in progress.

Listen, this is your personal invitation.

Episode 300 is your invitation to come, let me be your coach. Come be in community with us inside The Abundance Academy. We are having the best time.

Want to talk about one-on-one coaching? Just you and me? We can do that too.

Your dream in progress is calling to you right now. May you borrow as much confidence from me as you need.

Game on, girlfriend. Always.
