Episode 23: How to Change the World in 2 Steps
My family loves to watch Queer Eye on Netflix, those 5 guys are just the best. Every episode I fall more in love with each one of them. The care they put into their work, the way they make their make-over “heroes” laugh and open up (even when it takes some convincing), it always makes us smile.
I have to yet to watch an episode without at least tearing up over the incredible transformations we watch these people go through.
And yes, it’s so fun to watch the hair cuts, and the shopping, and the cooking lessons, but for me, the thing that always gets me, is the change in the subject of the makeover. The internal shift in perspective.
That’s what gets me.
And this last weekend, I decided to take some serious downtime with the family. We cleaned and laughed and cooked and, of course, watched Queer Eye.
As I was watching Queer Eye Japan (which is all the rage right now…remember when we could travel and just walk into a room and hug people? Yeah…that was nice. I miss that…but anyway…), and I one of the guys say through tears, “Oh look at how happy he is! He’s believing in himself! See? When you change your perspective, you change your life.”
Those words hung in the air a little bit. The whole family was quiet for a few minutes.
The truth cut through the din in our house and left us all staring and vulnerable.“Change your perspective, change your life.”
This has been one hellova week, at least here in the states.
Our economic differences were laid bare by COVID. Then the festering wound of our racial divide was ripped open once again and had peroxide poured inside.
I’ve been asked more times than I can count, “Sarah, what do we do? How can we make a difference? How can any of this change?”
I am going to teach you, how you can change the world in just 2 steps and make it a better place for everyone. Because if I know anything, I know this:
If you want to be successful in life, you can’t do it alone.
And the only way to make sure any kind of success or progress is real and lasting is to make sure you’re aware of your perspective.
I’m going to get into how to do that, specifically, in this episode. Buckle up. I’m not holding any punches in this one. The stakes for our world, and your life, have never been higher.
Are you ready to change the world in 2 steps? Yes? Now go listen!

Thank you for creating this podcast. From the bottom of my heart. It’s a great conversation starter, and an important addition to the work I do. P.S. I once attended an event, when I was figuring out what direction I wanted to go in my advocacy, called “Change Your Perspective, Change Your Life!”
You’re so welcome, thank you for listening! That means so much. And I love that title! Might be a good start to a panel discussion… 😉 xo
