Episode 52: Listeners’ Biggest Lessons From 2020 (yep, from YOU!)
You guys! We made it! 2020 is almost over, and I’m so excited to bring you episode #52 right at the end of this year — all 52 weeks of growth, and our collective loss of innocence, lessons from 2020, and our resiliency and serious grit.
And for this last episode, I wanted to ask you guys what you’ve learned from this year and what you would say to your old self (you know, the unsuspecting old self from last February).
I have to tell you, we were overwhelmed here at Team Sarah with how many responses we received! Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to write in to share what you’ve learned this year.
We’ve put together as many of those responses as possible, and I’ll be sharing those in today’s episode.
I’ll also be sharing my top 10 lessons from 2020 and what I hope to see for all of you in 2021 (holy cow, you guys, I can’t believe it’s actually here!).
Now before we jump into the heart of the episode, I want to say thank you to Shelley, Sarah (actually 3 different Sarahs!), Shannon, Roma, Tara, Tracy, Juanita, Susan, Mallika, Dorit, Allison, Neepa, Chitra, Alexandra, Cathy, Marinitza, Clara, Brett, Vanessa, and Lauren for their contributions.
You’re about to hear their biggest takeaways from 2020 are, what they’d tell their younger, more innocent selves if they could go back to February 2020 with a warning, and finally, what they want to STOP doing in 2021.
But before we get to that, I also want to take a minute to thank my extraordinary team. This year, we’ve been able to launch The Heart-Centered Business Bootcamp, The Game On Girlfriend Project, this podcast, our YouTube channel, our first Quarterly Business Accelerator (you heard from those ladies last week), our second cohort of that program just this month, and Coffee With Coach. And all throughout the year, we continued to grow The Game On Girlfriend Membership!
You guys. None of that — and I mean none of that — would have been possible without my team of beautiful, intelligent women.
So to Darrie, our podcast editor, you’ve been such a wonderful contribution to our team. Thank you so much for taking such care with the words I speak here, and for helping us get those words into the ears of our incredible listeners.
Megan and Ileia, where do I even start?! The video editing you guys do to help us tell our story and change women’s lives moves me to no end. You’re so talented, you do such great work, and I’m so grateful.
Telma, thank you for making our social media look so good! I had almost zero desire to learn how to create reels, and you saved me from that fate. Phew! So to all of you who love my Instagram feed, we have Telma to thank for those beautiful images. Thank you so much. Holy cannoli.
Stephanie, without you, I'd be scared to see what our final copy would look like. You guys, I still write every email, every ad, every Coffee With Coach, and all our courses and homework — but without Stephanie checking for typos and correcting my horrific grammar, I worry that no one would know what the heck I’m trying to say. So, thank you.
And to my work wife, Rita, I’m at a loss for words. You’ve been with me for 10 years, you’ve traveled to our conferences, lugged books up and down stairs, created systems, talked me down when I’m feeling stressed, answered customer emails, and worked on countless hours of technical testing. Seriously, you guys, she’s been through each sales process more times than I can count. Rita, thank you, thank you, thank you.
It really does take a village, and delivering this content to you every week has meant so much to me. Without these amazing women bringing their talents and expertise to the team, I wouldn’t be able to do it.
Now … on with this week’s episode. Goodbye, 2020 — thank you for your lessons, your heartbreak, your persistence … and mostly, for being over.
This is going to be good. Let’s get to it.
