What’s that old saying? “You make plans … God laughs.” Is that it?

You can catch the video version of this episode here.

Holy cannoli you guys. I can’t even. I don’t even know what just happened. I recorded this after 2 nights of very little sleep, a tough workout and a serious amount of writing and logistics.

    Here’s the deal:

    • My dad had an accident. He lives 3,000 miles away. I’m a mom, a business owner, friend, podcast host and coach.
    • I had plans for the coming months, both personally and professionally, and the majority of those plans just flew right out the window.
    • No all of them, but a good solid chunk. Not to mention, I’m about to fly across the country for an undetermined amount of time, leaving my kids, our animals, the house, and my friends on this coast.

You guys, this is what life looks like when it’s working. When “life” happens, and you made different plans. Heaven knows I don’t have it all figured out, and I can be one scattered woman in moments like this.

And, I teach this stuff all the time. So here’s what I’m doing to actually “eat my own dog food,” as I like to say. I mean, after all, what good is a coach who doesn’t walk her talk, right?

First of all, I’m allowing myself to be really sad. Because OMG I’m really sad. My dad got hurt and I wasn’t there and I hate that. I hate that it takes me this long to get to the other side of the country.

I had a trip with my son and his best friend already in the works when this happened. We’ve had to adjust that, and that makes me sad, too.

Some of my work plans might be a little nutty, and that’s frustrating, too. But, I’m super grateful for my team for being so on top of our workflow and for being so generous with me.

So allowing all the emotions to flow and be uncomfortable is step number one.

Secondly, I’m doing what I know I need to do. Do I like doing all the things every time? Nope.

But are people relying on me to get them done? Yes. So I’m getting them done, even as I pack, talk to doctors, check in on my kids and do things like record this podcast for you.

Stick around to the end and you’ll hear one of my biggest (BIGGEST) questions marks about the coaching industry and this whole “I don’t feel it right now” culture.

This is what life looks like when it’s working. When life happens and you made different plans.

Today’s episode is part of my YouTube playlist called “Sarah Uncut.” This series was created to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a coach and what we really do to run our businesses and our lives.

I looked back at the questions I get asked most often, and my team and I whittled this down to the 12 most commonly asked questions.

I created an answer for each question with a short video. You can check out the whole series here.

You can check out our podcast interviews on YouTube, too!
