Episode 132: Never Ask, “So What Do You Do?” Again

Game On Girlfriend Ep132

Picture it: You’re about to walk into a networking event and your palms get sweaty and a feeling of dread sweeps over you.

You’re worried about 2 things simultaneously: The pressure to sell and find “leads” (I hate that word, btw), and concern that someone else is going to try and sell you things.

What if (and believe me, this can feel like a huge “what if”), networking could actually be enjoyable. What if it could feel like a joy, something that you actually look forward to?

If that sounds impossible, you’re going to love the conversation inside this episode.

I got to chat with Colleen Biggs, who’s an Award-Winning pioneer of a woman who loves helping other women Lead Up in their lives and take bigger leaps in business. She recently turned 50, and oh boy does she love celebrating her life!

We had a fun conversation about how to make networking more fun, and honestly, more meaningful.

I hope you listen for her idea of how to “flip the script” when you feel someone has just “sales vomited” all over you. That’s the worst, right? I love how Colleen suggests we handle it.

I also asked her what she suggests for growing relationships to the point that you can start to sell. There’s always that awkward moment when you’ve met someone, where you know you could talk about what you do and how it could help them, but it just doesn’t feel right yet.

You’ll definitely want to listen in for her answer on that one, too.

She has extensive success and experience in Corporate America for over 30 years consulting over 340 business launches.  You guys, 340 launches! She knows what she’s talking about when it comes to successfully growing your business through networking.

Colleen built Lead Up for Women from 2018 through 2021 to over 10,000 women and is now the CEO and Founder of Leap.

She’s an Author of 5 best-selling books with the most recent International #1 Best-seller: Step Into the Spotlight to expand your influence and attract the right customers.

She’s also the podcast host of “Take the Leap with Colleen Biggs” and was recently awarded the 2020 Local person of the year award, followed up in 2021 with the Top 10 Business Women award.

If you’ve been worried that you’ll never be a great networker, or you’re feeling pressure to ”sell sell sell!” then this is the episode for you.
